Butter London Summer Holiday Lacquer Collection 2013

Wednesday, July 3, 2013

I've been a huge fan of Butter London polish for a while now!  I still remember my very first, which I featured here a while back!  Well, as you get ready to make your summer plans, be sure to check out Butter London's Summer 2013 Collection!  This collection goes far beyond the pinks and corals we've all come to expect from summer launches.  Butter London drew inspiration from raw cultural elements and gilded textures.  Sultry metallics in platinum, gold, and rust evoke luxury, while crushed glitter in rich shades of copper and umber are offset by an accent of African Turquoise.

This launch features six stunning hues, perfect for complimenting your sun kissed skin!  Bit Faker, Sun Baker, Champers, Poole, Marbs and Bobby Dazzler will stun all you fashionistas out there!  I have tested and loved Sun Baker, a gorgeous opaque rust orange shimmer, as well as Bobby Dazzler, an opaque silver chrome!  I love the unexpectedness of these shades for this time of year!  They're very fashion forward and uniquely stunning! Here's a look I created by combining the two.

Now that I've sampled two out of the six shades, I absolutely need to get my hands on Poole!  You know I love me some blue polish!  This turquoise reminds me of the serene Caribbean ocean!  Surely, I need some serenity in my life... after all... I spend a good part of my day chasing my twinados!

So lets chat, have you tried Butter London's Summer 2013 launch?  What is your favorite shade?

Thank you SO MUCH for reading! XOXO Carla - FMM

Playing with Complimentary Nail Colors

Saturday, February 2, 2013

So today i decided it would be fun to create a nail look simply by playing with complimentary colors.   I'm using Julep's Lucy (a deep wine) and Diane (a deep forest green).  I thought it'd be fun to paint my nails using Lucy and my pointer using Diane.  Then i applied a stripe of Diane on all the nails painted in Lucy for a bit of interest and dimension.  I reversed the process for the pointer finger just for fun.  The cool thing about this look is that because the colors are so complimentary of each other, they kind of blend a bit. From a distance, you wouldn't know i mixed two colors.  However, if you look closer, you can totally see the fun I've had with these two complimentary shades.  I love the idea that you can rock this look anywhere... even if you have a formal or more conservative event to attend, you could totally get away with this look.  I will say this is equivalent to the mullet in the 80's... you know, business in the front, party in the back!  Except cuter... i mean, who the heck wants to rock a mullet these days right?

So lets chat! What are some of your favorite complimentary color nail polish looks?   Thank you SO MUCH for reading! XOXO Carla - FMM

Winesnob!

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

That's right... Winesnob!  Listen up ladies... and fellas if you're into that sorta thing, i don't judge!  If you're looking for a nail color that totally packs on the mystery and sex appeal, then look no further!  Sheswai's Winesnob is a sultry wine tone that screams hotness!  This polish applies so beautifully!  Two coats of this stunner and your nails will instantly glam up any outfit... yoga pants included!   But lets face it, the color is stunning...yes, but the name is even more fun!  I mean, i love me a glass of full bodied Cabernet!  So when i can't have a glass... i simply reach for my inner winesnob and get my mani on!  So are you a winesnob?  If so... can i get a whoop whoop?!

Essie - Beyond Cozy

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Don't you just love this time of year?  I'm totally inspired by all the sparkle and glam that I'm spotting everywhere!  Naturally, i couldn't resist picking this gorgeous little number while admiring Essie's Winter 2012 collection.  It's called 'Beyond Cozy'.  I totally pictured pairing this stunner with a comfy, cozy winter white sweater!  It screams 'ski bunny' to me!  But, if it's glamour you want instead... this beauty truly packs on the sparkle!  The only bummer is that it chips easily!  Having said that, it's easier to remove then the typical glitter polish. In addition, it dries super fast making the 'chip' situation a little easier to tolerate.  Overall, I'm totally smitten by this pretty little polish!  Aren't you?

Lets Go Crazy!

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

I'm totally loving plums and wines this Fall season!  I recently purchased this gorgeous Deborah Lippmann polish in Lets Go Crazy at Nordstrom and have fallen deeply in love with this rich hue! It's a deep plum purple filled with various size sparkles giving it that little extra something special.  Deborah Lippmann has an amazing ability to make the most amazing sparkle polishes without feeling too teeny-bopperish!  They're just the right amount of fun!  And i love me some fun!

Yin and Yang

Saturday, April 21, 2012

As you have seen in previous posts, I'm having loads of fun with my nail polish!  In fact, i think it's one of my favorite beauty products because you don't have to commit to it for long periods of time. I'd get bored anyway.  In fact, back in January, i tried the new OPI gel manicure that lasts forever, and i can tell you that i was over it quick!  I can see from a practical perspective how this particular manicure can be a good thing, but certainly not for my everyday polish needs.

I love corals, particularly this time of year.  But what i love even more, is the pairing of orange and pink.  I love it so much, i used those colors in my wedding decor with subtle touches of apple green.  This manicure is inspired by my love of these two colors.  When i couldn't decide which to use, i used BOTH!  Problem solved!

For this manicure, i used two polishes from Forever 21 by the brand "Love & Beauty" which I'd never heard of before.  First i applied a coat of "orange", then a coat of "bubble gum" on just one side of my nails creating what i call a 'yin and yang' effect.  For a touch of fun, i added gold glitter polish solely on my ring finger (optional).

Interestingly, if you look from one angle, it looks as though I'm wearing orange polish...

From a different angle, it looks pink!

From afar, since the colors really compliment each other, you can't quite tell you are wearing two shades of polish.

Fashion Maven Olivia

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

So the other day, I blogged about Incoco's nail polish appliqués. A few days later, while strolling up and down the isles of Target, I came across Sally Hansen's version of these appliqués called Salon Effects. I picked out a couple of interesting patterns because I was curious to see how they compared with Incoco's appliqués. When I got home, I quickly applied 'Mad for Plaid' (the pattern I'd picked out). I immediately noticed the texture felt lighter. I applied this print solely on my ring finger nail. For the rest of my nails I opted for a bright pink color to play up the pinks in this pattern. Overall, it's a fun pattern, but I'm not so sure about wearing it on all my nails. It didn't last as long as Incoco's appliqués but worked well for a couple of days. However, it dawned on me... This is PERFECT for my twin girlie girls! Think about it, it's easy to apply and NO DRYING TIME!!! So I decided to give Mia and Olivia a little 'nail polish applique' manicure and loved how sweet it looked on their itty bitty nails! I snapped this picture of Olivia's nails while playing at the park on Saturday! What do you think?
