Treat Yourself to a Little TLC With an At Home Pedicure!

Monday, November 17, 2014

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

There is nothing i love more than taking a little time to pamper myself!  One of my favorite ways to do so is to get regular pedicures.  After all, it's important to #RespectYourFeet!  But let's face it... as a mommy of twins, juggling full time work, home and of course this blog, there are times where it's just not possible to make it to a salon for a little pedi indulgence.  Well, it's OK!  You see, if you arm yourself with the right tools, you can give yourself the most divine pedicure in the comfort of your own home anytime you want!  On a recent trip to Target, i picked up two products that have just recently launched to help me achieve a flawless at home pedicure.  Amopé Pedi Perfect Electronic Pedicure Foot File and Callus Remover is so gentle on my skin yet completely smooths any roughness i may have on my feet.  I don't know about you but wearing sandals and flip flops in the summer takes quite a toll on my feet.  This beauty has made it easy with the click of a button to transform my feet by buffing away hard skin in minutes!  Once I'm done buffing my feet, I'm ready for the next step.  Amopé Pedi Perfect Daily Foot Care Moisturizer leaves my feet especially hydrated and smooth.  It's specifically formulated with vitamin B3 and natural oils to keep skin hydrated for up to 24 hours! This baby is not just for feet... it works wonders on my legs too!  This time of year my legs tend to get a bit on the dry side so after massaging my feet with this moisturizer, i make sure to spread the love to my legs as well!  #CollectiveBias

One of the things i most dislike is the feeling of rough, chapped heels, so i try and maintain them as soft as i can with my regular pedicures.  Since discovering Amopé Pedi Perfect Electronic Pedicure Foot File and Callus Remover my life has essentially been made easier (and less expensive) knowing that i can now take care of these unsightly tootsie situations at home!  With this beauty i can now buff away hard skin in minutes for beautifully smooth feet.  Oh and major bonus... batteries are included!  Score!  Think an at home pedi is too much work?  Here's how you can make this an enjoyable experience.  Simply grab your Amopé moisturizer and electronic foot file, a few of your favorite candles, a fab nail polish and some of your most loved tunes.  I always find that including these few little extras makes my at home pedicures experience that much more special and enjoyable! Besides, a great pedicure always gives me that extra degree of confidence and of course feels great!

OK so i wouldn't be a good friend if i didn't share some extra major scores for you guys!  Purchase your Amopé Pedi Perfect Electronic File and Callus Remover at Target  (11/9-11/22) and you'll receive a $5 Target gift card back. Also, Cartwheels is currently offering 10% off your Amopé  purchase (11/2-11/22)!  You can find these products in the foot care aisle of your local Target.  You're welcome!!!

Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Last week i showed you the super awesome Pacifica Coconut Water Makeup Remover Wipes that i purchased from Target.  Well, that very same day, i also snatched up this beautiful Color Quench Lip Tint in Blood Orange.  If you've kept up with my blog, you know I'm a mah-jor lip balm lovah!    This tint combines the smooth texture of a balm while adding just the right amount of color.  Perfect for keeping your lips hydrated without skimping out on color!  Oh and if you like oranges, you'll love how this tint tastes!  YUM!

Pacifica Coconut Water Wipes

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

So the other day, on my almost daily stroll through Target, i stumbled across an interesting line of products called Pacifica.  I was immediately drawn to their  Coconut Water Wipes not just because of their super cute packaging, but the fact that they're infused with... well, coconut water!   I always keep a stash of makeup remover wipes on my nightstand as a sure fire way to never miss going to bed without a relatively clean face!  These wipes not only smell uhhh-mazing, but they're biodegradable which is great news for the environment!  They gently remove toxins, oils, pollutants and makeup from your skin.  At a whopping 5.99 for a pack of 30, you can't afford not to pick these up!  All this goodness makes these skin-loving wipes an indispensable part of your daily cleansing routine!

In addition to these wipes, i also picked up one of their Color Quench Lip Tint which I'll chat with you about at a later date!  But for now, I'm super excited about this line and now want to try every single product to see how they stand against these super awesome wipes!

So lets chat!  Have you spotted Pacifica products at your local Target?  If you've had a chance to try them, let me know your thoughts? What other products do you think I'd love?

Happy Valentine's Day!  Hope you are all enjoying this day.  I apologize for the lack of posts this week but it's been quick the crazy week.  Olivia got sick on Sunday, then Monday, it was MY turn!  Today i took my sweet Mia for an MRI.  Hoping for good news as she's really been through a lot.  I would truly appreciate some prayers right now...  Hopefully I'll feel back to my normal self soon and resume my usual blogging activities.  I have so much to chat about!   So for now, I'll leave you with these gorgeous red Prabal Gurung for Target wedges... i thought they were quite fitting for today!  These are just one of many pieces i scored from this awesome collection!  XOXO Carla

Prabal Gurung for Target

Saturday, February 9, 2013

I love when Target teams up with great designers to bring us their wonderful creations at prices most of us can afford!  Prabal Gurung for Target's 80 piece collection will launch at Target stores and online on February 10th.  Prices will range from $12.99-$199.99.  I can't even begin to tell you the excitement i feel over this launch! In fact, i dreamed about it several times this week... don't judge! I'm pretty sure my dreams consisted mostly of me being the only person in the store scoring every piece i love in my size!  I walked out with bags upon bags filled with Prabal goodness.... while my chauffeur promptly waited to whisk me away to my palatial residence surrounded by rainbows and unicorns.  OK, so while i know that is not a reality, I'm really hoping that Target got their act together and stocked up... unlike the nightmare that was the Missoni collection (which i loved but it was impossible to find much of it anywhere)!  Luckily i did manage to score some fun pieces but seriously, it was insane!  OK, here are a few of my favorite looks from the Prabal Gurung for target collection!

Now with a show of hands, who will be lined up at the store first thing Sunday morning??? Meeeeee!  And who will be online promptly at midnight for the launch??? Meeeee!  Ok, enough said!

Santa Baby!

Sunday, December 30, 2012

Soooo Santa was real good to me this year!  Thought I'd share some of my favorite things with you!

The first thing was this STUNNING Anthropologie boho top.  It was on my wish list but was so expensive that i honestly didn't think I'd get it.  I screamed when i saw it!  I'm obsessed with it!

The hubby got me the gorgeous chunky JCrew bracelet that I'd been drooling over for a while now!  He also gave me the Derek Lam slippers... they're so fun!  My parents, whom also gifted me with the gorgeous top, paired it with this super cute Anthropologie wristlet!  I'm so in love with it!

I also received gift cards to Sephora, Target, Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks... my friends know me so well!~  It was a wonderful Christmas!  The gifts were gorgeous, yes... but the memories made are priceless!

eos Lip Balm

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Psst...I have a little confession to make! I'm kind of obsessed with lip balms! (OK so i have lots of obsessions but for now we'll just discuss this one... don't judge!) I have found all kinds of gems that i will share with you one at a time. Most recently, i stumbled upon these super sleek, playful and oh so smooth eos lip balms! You've heard me say it before, I'm a total sucker for great packaging and this lip balm certainly does not lack on the 'cuteness' factor! You will definitely want to take this baby out of your make up pouch often just because... well, it's so cute! Well, cuteness aside, this lip balm is also an incredible product. You see, in the winter, i find myself reaching for 'healing' type lip products because my lips get so chapped. However, in the warmer months, i opt for milder balms that simply hydrate without feeling as though my lips are medicated. Oh and if they taste yummy, well that's just an added bonus right? Well, eos (which stands for 'evolution of smooth') has taken care of all those things! The best part about these balms is that they are 95% organic, 100% natural, gluten, paraben,Petrolatum and Phthalate free, so you can rest assured that you are not consuming all kinds of yucky stuff! My favorite of it's ingredients however is shea butter. I looooooove shea butter! I use it on my lips, skin, and hair! It's so hydrating!!! So, if you're in the market for lip balm packed with antioxidants, vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oils and is 100% natural, this pretty little bubble of happiness is for you! They come in the following flavors: Summer Fruit,  Lemon Drop SPF 15 (hello.... SPF 15!! YAY), Strawberry Sorbet, Honeysuckle Honeydew, Medicated Tangerine  and Sweet Mint. Right now, I'm loving the Honeysuckle Honeydew and the Strawberry Sorbet, though i plan on adding Sweet Mint and Lemon Drop to my collection ASAP! eos lip balms are available at Target.

Budget Friendly Makeup - e.l.f.

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Calling all recessionistas!  If you've been searching for great, affordable make-up but your budget is limited, i have fantastic news for you!  On a recent trip to Target, i came across e.l.f. (Eyes, Lips, Face), a make-up line complete with all the necessities to make you go from blah to vavavoom without breaking the bank!  In fact, i had to do a double take when i saw the prices!  I'm quite used to spending a pretty penny on my make-up so this was a novelty to me!  I've read about e.l.f. products in magazines but when i came across their isle at Target, I decided to see what all the hype was about.  I immediately stocked my cart with enough stuff to create an easy, summer look!
I proceeded to purchase the following products:
Lengthening & Defining Mascara in Black - $1.00
Lengthening & Voluminizing Mascara in Black - $3.00
Cream Eyeshadow in Candlelight (includes brush) - $3.00
Cream Eyeshadow in Bronzed (includes brush) - $3.00
Pigment Eyeshadow in Naturally Nude (includes brush) - $3.00
All Over Color Stick in Persimmon - $1.00
All Over Color Stick in Pink Lemonade - $1.00
Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Coffee - $1.00
Liquid Eyeliner in Copper - $1.00
Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal - $1.00
Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Perfect Pink - $1.00
Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in beige - $3.00
Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths - $3.00
Shine Eraser Sheets - $1.00

Total cost... a whopping $26!!!  That's what i pay for one of my Chanel Polishes!  Hello!!!!  Can you say SCORE!

I immediately went home, ripped the packages open and began to play!  I can't even explain how surprised i was that this stuff was actually pretty good!  The eyeshadows were incredibly pigmented, much to my surprise!  The worst thing ever is realizing that shadow you love so much, barely shows on your skin!  Uhh!  The eyeliner pen is fool proof, trust me!  Anyone can use this stuff to create a perfect line!  The liquid lipstick reminds me a lot of Stila's applicator with the exception that instead of a brush, you'll get an angled spongy application which i happen to enjoy!  I loved the All Over Color stick in Pink Lemonade the most, as the Persimmon was a bit light for my skin tone.  If you like copper/gold glitter, then the Liquid Eyeliner in Copper is for you!  This stuff is gorgeous!  I worry about looking too teeny bopperish wearing it but thought that maybe if i just dab it on my eyelid for a little extra sparkle on a special evening, then it's harmless.  Unfortunately, the tinted moisturizer was not the right color for my skin tone.  They do have others but I'll just keep using what i normally use and call it a day!  As for the mascaras, i decided to get two because i wanted to compare why one cost $1.00 and the other cost $3.00.  Personally, i say splurge on the $3.00 mascara because the wand is certainly better.  I actually didn't mind this mascara at all and have been wearing it all week.  In fact, I've been wearing solely this make-up for a week just to be sure my skin didn't have any weird reaction, and so far so good!  Overall, the price point is exceptional and the packaging is appealing and looks high end.  They're made with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes which makes them even more appealing!  Oh and they're 'cruelty free' which is important to note!

The swatches below are in the same order as the picture above.  From left to right:  Pigment Eyeshadow in Naturally Nude, Cream Eyeshadow in Bronzed and Cream Eyeshadow in Candlelight.

Below is the All Over Color Stick (from left to right) Persimmon and Pink Lemonade.  Unfortunately the pictures are not doing any of these colors justice.  They look so frosty but they're much prettier in person!

Below is the Eyeliner Pen in Coffee... love this!

Below is the sparkly liquid eyeliner in Copper

Here is a close-up of me wearing the following products:

Cream Eyeshadow in Candlelight (includes brush) - $3.00
Cream Eyeshadow in Bronzed (includes brush) - $3.00
Pigment Eyeshadow in Naturally Nude (includes brush) - $3.00
All Over Color Stick in Pink Lemonade - $1.00
Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Coffee - $1.00
Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Perfect Pink - $1.00

Total cost - $11.00! What??? Just think of all the wonderful things you can do with all the money you'll save!!!

Ok, here's a picture of me wearing some solely e.l.f. products!  What do you think?

So go ahead and grab yourself some e.l.f. products! At these prices, you can't afford not to right? Every woman should have the ability to purchase quality products without sacrificing her budget... these are the products that will ensure you stay on point! Let me know what you think! Happy Experimenting!

DIY Knotted Hair Ties & Headbands

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

I've noticed these cute, colorful knotted hair ties everywhere lately.  I've come across them in magazines, people's Birch Boxes, etc.  This past weekend, i visited one of my favorite stores Anthropologie, and fell completely in love with their knotted hair tie/headband selection! The color combinations where dreamy and some of them even sparkled!  I purchased a pack of neutral toned hair ties and drooled over the gorgeous selection of embellished hair ties.  They were essentially the same hair ties as i was purchasing in a pack of 5 for $12, however, these were sold individually for $10 simply because they had a pretty sparkly bead.  That's when i light bulb went off in my head (don't you just love it when that happens?), i makes these myself!  In fact, the next day, while strolling the isles of Target, i found a pack of 3 for $2.50!!!  Score!  I quickly purchased a few packs in a variety of colors.  Right next to these hair ties were knotted headbands (there went the light bulb again!)... i mean, why embellish solely the hair ties when i could embellish the headbands as well!  YES, perfect!  Ok so i purchased a few headbands as well.  After that, i visited my local Michael's and AC Moore stores (making sure to take advantage of their coupon offers) for a selection of the prettiest beads i could find and i quickly went to work!  I am so so SO pleased with they way they turned out!  In fact, i ordered these hair ties in bulk and may consider a tiny little side business on ETSY??  What do you think???  I took a lot of pictures so enjoy!  Oh and here's some food for thought for all you pony tail wearers, you know how you often carry around your pony tail holder on your wrist?  Well, how cute would these embellished hair ties look instead?  You can actually wear them as a bracelet!!!  I took a picture with my phone to illustrate that look.

These are the inspiration hair ties...

These were some of the colors available to purchase of the non-embellished hair ties.

These were the neutral pack i bought.

Here are the headbands, also non-embellished.

So first, here are a few pictures of my bead selection... aren't they pretty?

Below are the hair bands i used for this DIY as well as the neutral one shown in one of the pictures above.  The ones below were purchased from Target 2 for $5.  The neutral pack was purchased at Anthrolopogie for $12.

OK so start with one knotted hair tie.

Undo the knot...

Insert bead/beads of choice.  Make sure the bead has a wide hole or it will make this entire process much more difficult!

Tie the knot and VOILA!

Here are a few of my other creations!

Here are the embellished headbands...

These next three pictures are of me wearing one of the hair ties, headband and finally the headband as a bracelet.  Sorry for the poor quality but i took them myself using my iPhone and i think the 'hair' shots were taken too closely but hopefully you'll get an idea of what it looks like on.
