Creating my Favorite Michelle Williams RED CARPET Look on a LIVINGROOM CARPET Budget!

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

You know when you fall in love, time seems to stand still…your heart begins to beat faster, your palms get sweaty, and your stomach gets butterflies?  No disrespect to my husband, but such a moment happened at the 2006 Academy Awards.  Michelle Williams literally took my breath away!  She stunned in her gorgeous yellow Vera Wang gown!  Her side swept bun was just the right amount of messy making it a totally accessible look for real life!  She dialed up the drama by sporting lots of lashes and perfectly pouty red lips! Years later, I still find myself channeling my inner Michelle Williams and translating this timeless red carpet fave into something a little more living room carpet friendly.

My first order of business was to gather supplies that would tone down that celebrity stylist budget without toning down that enviable celebrity stylist glam.  I strolled on over to a couple of my favorite drugstore beauty spots with $50 in hand.  Michelle Williams always rocks perfectly flawless skin, so I knew one of my absolute essentials would have to be a great foundation of sorts!  For this purpose, I opted for Maybelline’s Dream Nude Airfoam foundation $11.49.  It’s light and creates an airbrushed effect perfect for replicating the look at hand!  Next, I fell in love with a Physician’s Formula palette in Warm Nude $10.99.  This palette stunned with gorgeous earth tones, but the packaging was the real show stopper!  Totally red carpet approved!  Next, I grabbed a few e.l.f. essentials (Eyebrow Kit $3, Concealer/Highlighter in one $3, Contouring/Blush Duo $3, Eyeliner and Shadow Stick $3, and lashes complete with glue $1) to help me reach my red carpet ambitions.  I love that they have a super generous price point without skimping on quality.  For my lashes, I purchased Rimmel London’s Scandal Eyes $7.49.  For Michelle’s red pouty lips, I opted for NYC’s 309 Sheer Red $.99.

Now this look wouldn’t be complete without a gorgeous side swept bun. Goody’s Clear Elastics $2.49 helped me achieve this memorable style.  My sub-total came to $46.45, add 7% tax and I spent a total of $49.70!

So you see ladies, and gentlemen (I don't judge), you can totally rock Michelle's red carpet look for under $50!  So what are you waiting for? Go go go!
