Guido Palau for Redken Styles Punk Presentation at Met Gala 2013

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

Redken Creative Consultant Guido Palau, a key collaborator in this year's highly anticipated PUNK: Chaos to Couture exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also conceptualized a key component of last night's 2013 Costume Institute Benefit at the museum in celebration of the exhibit, which opens on Thursday!

Guido completed each of the 50 models' looks (25 male, 25 female), setting up the theme of the unforgettable event with a distinctly punk presentation. The models lined the Met's grand staircase as guests made their way into the Gala.

Guido declares that Punk was a very important influence for him as he's referenced the visual message of anarchy, chaos, and disregard that is everything punk in some way in almost every step of his career.

"Punk was everywhere when i was in my teens and it's always been a source of inspiration for me. So when i was asked to style the Gala and celebrate the headpieces for the exhibition, it was an era, and a style, that I already felt close to.  I've always put a little punk in my work... whether it's an energy, a feeling, or an actual element of a look." - Guido, Redken Creative Consultant.

Cheers to Guido and the entire Redken team for executing such a creative look for this iconic event!  I can totally relate to the Punk movement growing up in the 80's and early 90's and being obsessed with Punk and New Wave style, music and fashion!  Click here for more information about Redken and their amazing products!
