Parisian 'Pharmacie' Beauty Haul

Monday, January 12, 2015

Gosh i have so much to share with you all about my Paris trip.  I sat here feeling quite overwhelmed with the process so i decided it would be best to simply break it down a little.  Today's post focuses solely on my trip to a French Pharmacy.  While i wish I'd had more time to shop, it was just not possible to do so and still see all the sights on my list, so last Monday, on my actual birthday, we had lunch at a place that was not only personally highly recommended, but seemed to be the best place in Paris for a Falafel according to our own research.  L'As Du Falafel is a must for anyone looking for am amazing meal (just ask Lenny Kravitz)  It's literally a hole in the wall but the line to get in literally wraps around the block!  Yes, it's that good.  This restaurant is in the Marais section of Paris which sadly is just down the street from where the grocery store shooting took place.  Yes, i count my blessings everyday because i still can't believe that one day after leaving Paris, so much tragedy occurred.  Life is such i suppose... sending my thoughts and prayers to everyone in Paris, especially this beautiful neighborhood that i enjoyed visiting so much.

OK, back to the beauty haul.  When we left the restaurant, we walked a few blocks to the Pharmacie De La Mairie for a quick little beauty haul. There were tons of pharmacies everywhere but this one in particular caught my eye from a distance so i headed inside.  Wow... so here's the really cool thing about parisian pharmacies... they have tons of deluxe sample size products available to purchase!  It's as if you went to a beauty box subscription warehouse and decided to curate your own box with no limit!  I may have shed a tear or two looking through all of this beauty deliciousness! While i kick myself for not getting more things, i still managed to walk away with a great haul!  One of the things i always get when i travel to Europe is rose water.  It's a great toner for the skin and is relatively inexpensive.  When i couldn't find it myself, i asked for help with my broken French... thankfully, i was handed a huge jar so i'm well stocked for a while.  I also picked up a Caudalie lip balm and hand/cuticle cream (i realize i can get that brand here but thought it would be fun to pick it up from its country of origin right?). I noticed a pack of individually wrapped makeup wipes so i grabbed that as well.  Can i just tell you that i am kicking myself for not buying 100 packs!!!  They're SO SO SO good!!!!  I haven't researched to see if i can find any here but am definitely going to do so.  I can never resist a good facial mask so i grabbed a couple of different types... one is a mud mask housed in a super cute squeezy pouch and the other is a peel mask.  I noticed some sweet little hand and cuticle balms that i couldn't resist.  The fig scent was amazing!  Lastly, there were a ton of hair care products.  I decided to pick up a few hair masks because that's what i figured would provide the most noticeable results versus a sample size shampoo/conditioner set. Sadly, that was the last of my pharmacy beauty haul although i did pick up a few other beauty items such as the Make Up For Ever Moulin Rouge collaboration lip balm which i'll tell you about later as well as some gorgeous nail files (one set - Marie Antoinette inspired) from Versailles and a Mona Lisa set from the Louvre Museum).  Again, i would have loved to have more time to truly explore all the local beauty products but i also wanted to sight see.  I feel so lucky that i had this amazing opportunity and while i didn't stock up the way i would have loved to if i had more time, i will say that i'm totally loving everything i got.  This was truly an amazing experience.  If you have a chance to travel to Paris, i know you will fall in love the way that i did!  I can't wait to share more with you!  Stay tuned and thank you so much for following along on this incredible journey!

  5. Hi! That is so cool that they sell deluxe sized samples. I don't understand why companies don't do that in the U.S. It seems they would sell more product. Thanks for sharing your fun haul!
