Elf on a Shelf - Harry the Elf's Arrival

Sunday, December 1, 2013

We started this little family tradition a couple of years ago.  Harry the Elf was sent from the North Pole to keep an eye on my little girls and report back to Santa every night.  Every day he returns to from the north pole and the girls have a blast looking for him in all sorts of places. One very important rule, you must NEVER touch Harry the Elf or he will lose his magical powers!  Every year he makes his grand entrance with a north pole snack time themed feast.  This year was no exception!  He brought cupcakes, gifts and a s'mores maker!  My girls kept telling me that this was the best day ever!  It truly was... we sat together and roasted marshmallows, ate s'mores, played with their new gifts and capped the day by trimming our Christmas tree.  This is probably my favorite day of the entire year!  I realize that I don't have many years left where the girls will appreciate this so I'm really embracing it all and living it through their eyes.  It's a special time... so while I realize this is a beauty blog, I thought that I'd share this wonderful tradition that we have with you all.  I know that many of my readers are also mommies and perhaps you'll get some ideas to share with your families.  I'm thinking of composing a recap of Harry's weekly behavior and posting it here.  I'm also posting pictures not only from this year's arrival, but the past couple of years as well.  I love to see what other mommies are doing with their elves so why not share what ours has done!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!  Enjoy the holiday season everyone!

Here are some of then places he showed up in the past...
Letters he's written over the years...

Harry's arrival from year's past... including the very first!

OK I couldn't resist our gorgeous pup Jack playing with his 'Christmas lights' toy!  Isn't he yummies?

Well, if you enjoyed this post, be sure to stop by for more as I'm going to recap every week until Christmas all the things Harry's been up to!

If you do this with your family, I'd love to hear your ideas on more ways to be creative with your little elf.  I need some new ideas for this year so please share!

Thank you so much for reading! xoxo Carla - FMM
