Fenty Beauty

So here's the thing... i enjoy Rihanna's music very much.  Admittedly, when i learned that she was releasing a makeup line i wasn't necessarily over the moon excited.  The thing is, while i was curious to check it out, i didn't think this was going to be anything special.  Man was i wrong!!!! A few days after its release, i headed to my local Sephora to check the line out for myself!  I swatched all of the Killawatt highlighters and immediately understood what all the hype was about.  The pigment was intense but wearable!  It felt buttery but not overpowering so i picked up two... (Money/Hu$tla Baby - a soft champagne peachy duo, and Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule - a gorgeous soft copper hue). Next, i headed to the Matchstix and swatched a few.  I opted for the shade Trippin (a golden apricot) because i felt it was one of the more unique colors.  It reminded me a bit of NARS Orgasm!  I loved the multitude of ways you could use this beauty.  I've worn it on my cheeks as a blush, on my lips as a lippie, and on my eyes as shadow!  The possibilities are endless with this unique product!

During this store visit, i decided to skip the foundation (even though it seemed to be the most popular item of the bunch) simply because it was a matte foundation.  At the time, i was really into illuminating foundations and didn't think this was gonna be anything i needed per se. What i did love after swatching was the gloss but it was sold out in the store.  Later that day, i ordered the gloss online and there was a promo for a deluxe sample of the Fenty foundation so i figured this was a wonderful way for me to test this product out prior to investing in it.  This was LOVE AT FIRST SWIPE for me!  Holy amazingness... Rihanna girl, you've really got something great here!  This foundation is full coverage and concealed even my reddest of spots with just one pump!  I even loved the matte finish though if i want to make it dewy i can simply add my Cover FX Custom Enhancing Drops!  But really, the foundation is my new favorite and i love that it comes in a array of shades.  This is something makeup brands really need to step up their game with.  We come in all kinds of shades and colors, not just four or five!  It's so important to find a proper match when purchasing a foundation.  No one should have to mix two or three to get a proper match... it's simply not ok! Rihanna truly thought of everyone with this release which makes me appreciate this line even more. (My current shade is 210 btw).

Now let's talk the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer. The shade is absolutely beautiful (Fenty Glow is a universally flattering rose nude with a bit of shimmer).  I loved the applicator and the packaging is gorgeous.... however, i could not get past the taste.  It reminds me of the numbing cream the dentist puts in your mouth before administering the Novocaine!  Ugh.... while i think many might find the taste rather pleasant (it's kind of fruity), for me, i can't get past the fact that it reminds me of this unpleasant experience.  I can't tell you how bummed i am about this because i love the color.  I've tried so hard to wear it but i simply cannot, oh well!

Overall I'm so impressed with this collection.  I think Rihanna nailed it with the packaging and quality! I want to add a few more products to my collection.  If you've tried any, i would love your input!  What should i try next?

Thank you so much for reading! Xo, Carla - FMM
