Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Last week i showed you the super awesome Pacifica Coconut Water Makeup Remover Wipes that i purchased from Target.  Well, that very same day, i also snatched up this beautiful Color Quench Lip Tint in Blood Orange.  If you've kept up with my blog, you know I'm a mah-jor lip balm lovah!    This tint combines the smooth texture of a balm while adding just the right amount of color.  Perfect for keeping your lips hydrated without skimping out on color!  Oh and if you like oranges, you'll love how this tint tastes!  YUM!

Oscars 2013 - Red Carpet Faves!

Sunday, February 24, 2013

Well, the year's most anticipated red carpet soiree has finally arrived!  Every year, i live vicariously through my favorite celebrities.... imagining how fun it must be getting all dolled up in custom made couture gowns!   But for now, i must content myself with shamelessly judging them!  Yes, and admit it... you do too!  But since my blog is dedicated to all those things i love, i will simply show you my favorite looks of tonight!
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

Charlize Theron in a Christian Dior Couture Dress and Harry Winston Jewelry.

Amy Adams in Oscar De La Renta

Jennifer Garner in Gucci Dress and Neil Lane Jewelry.  Ben Affleck in Gucci.

Maria Menounos in a Romona Keveza dress.

I just wanted to add how much i love the shorter, darker do on Giuliana Rancic!  I foresee a trip to the hair salon in my very near future!  Oh and her makeup?  Flawless!

Well, these were my favorites!  Who did you think rocked the red carpet this year?  OK, i need to get back to the show.  I'm so looking forward to Adele's performance!

Revlon Nail Art - Spring Trend!

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

This Spring, it's all about black and white!  So when i came across Revlon Nail Art Expressionist in Night & Degas, i knew it was the perfect tool to get me trend ready for the upcoming season!  I initially set out to do something a little different then what's pictured here, but as soon as i began to play, this is what happened!  I simply painted my nails black and used the thin brush to swipe a vertical stripe over my nails.  I'll admit, it was love at first swipe!  The only downer for me is that the black has a matte finish.  If you like matte nail polish, then you're in luck!  I, however, prefer a glossier finish, so i topped this look off with a clear, glossy top coat!  Easy fix right?  So what do you think?  I totally want to snatch up all the other fun color combos that Revlon Nail Art Expressions has to offer!  There are so many to choose from!  Though if you saw my insane polish collection on Instagram, you might think this warrants an arrest by the nail polish police  as i own more then your average nail salon!  Surely there is therapy for this lacquer addiction, no?  The truth is, i could never have enough! Period!

So lets chat!  Have you tried Revlon Nail Art Expressionist?  What colors should i try next?

Pacifica Coconut Water Wipes

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

So the other day, on my almost daily stroll through Target, i stumbled across an interesting line of products called Pacifica.  I was immediately drawn to their  Coconut Water Wipes not just because of their super cute packaging, but the fact that they're infused with... well, coconut water!   I always keep a stash of makeup remover wipes on my nightstand as a sure fire way to never miss going to bed without a relatively clean face!  These wipes not only smell uhhh-mazing, but they're biodegradable which is great news for the environment!  They gently remove toxins, oils, pollutants and makeup from your skin.  At a whopping 5.99 for a pack of 30, you can't afford not to pick these up!  All this goodness makes these skin-loving wipes an indispensable part of your daily cleansing routine!

In addition to these wipes, i also picked up one of their Color Quench Lip Tint which I'll chat with you about at a later date!  But for now, I'm super excited about this line and now want to try every single product to see how they stand against these super awesome wipes!

So lets chat!  Have you spotted Pacifica products at your local Target?  If you've had a chance to try them, let me know your thoughts? What other products do you think I'd love?

C. Wonder Enamel Initial Cuff

Sunday, February 17, 2013

If you're a local New Yorker, or simply reside in the Tri-State area, then certainly you've heard of C. Wonder!  This store is truly a feast for your senses selling everything from gorgeous accessories to fun home goods!  I'm currently obsessing over their stunning enamel initial cuffs.  When i realized that my initial C came in orange, one of my favorite colors, i simply could not pass it up!  When it arrived, i was delighted by the quality of the cuff.  It totally stuns alone or paired with a few other great bracelets!  I'm completely in love with this pretty little cuff and hope to add the K to my collection in the near future!  Haha my initials are CK... nope I'm not Calvin Klein though i wouldn't mind having my own fashion empire!  Ahhh it's nice to dream though hey, ya never know!

So lets chat?  Have you ever shopped C.Wonder?  What goodies did you score?  What do you think of their initial cuffs?

Happy Valentine's Day Love Muffins!

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Happy Valentine's Day!  Hope you are all enjoying this day.  I apologize for the lack of posts this week but it's been quick the crazy week.  Olivia got sick on Sunday, then Monday, it was MY turn!  Today i took my sweet Mia for an MRI.  Hoping for good news as she's really been through a lot.  I would truly appreciate some prayers right now...  Hopefully I'll feel back to my normal self soon and resume my usual blogging activities.  I have so much to chat about!   So for now, I'll leave you with these gorgeous red Prabal Gurung for Target wedges... i thought they were quite fitting for today!  These are just one of many pieces i scored from this awesome collection!  XOXO Carla

Prabal Gurung for Target

Saturday, February 9, 2013

I love when Target teams up with great designers to bring us their wonderful creations at prices most of us can afford!  Prabal Gurung for Target's 80 piece collection will launch at Target stores and online on February 10th.  Prices will range from $12.99-$199.99.  I can't even begin to tell you the excitement i feel over this launch! In fact, i dreamed about it several times this week... don't judge! I'm pretty sure my dreams consisted mostly of me being the only person in the store scoring every piece i love in my size!  I walked out with bags upon bags filled with Prabal goodness.... while my chauffeur promptly waited to whisk me away to my palatial residence surrounded by rainbows and unicorns.  OK, so while i know that is not a reality, I'm really hoping that Target got their act together and stocked up... unlike the nightmare that was the Missoni collection (which i loved but it was impossible to find much of it anywhere)!  Luckily i did manage to score some fun pieces but seriously, it was insane!  OK, here are a few of my favorite looks from the Prabal Gurung for target collection!

Now with a show of hands, who will be lined up at the store first thing Sunday morning??? Meeeeee!  And who will be online promptly at midnight for the launch??? Meeeee!  Ok, enough said!

How to Depot Your Shadows and Blushes

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

So I've mentioned before that my sister is a former MAC artist and is runway certified.  This basically means that i love to pick her brain about makeup and all the secrets of the trade!  One thing she's been doing for years is 'depotting'.  I'll admit i never wanted to try it.  The thought of taking something out of its beautiful packaging and potentially ruining it simply did not sound appealing to me... that is, until now!  You see, in the past year, I've upgraded my makeup case twice!  Well, three times if you count the one train case i ordered not realizing the dimensions were wrong!  So my latest train case purchase is a massive trolley case that i thought would be the answer to my prayers.  Sadly, the bulkiness of my blushes and individual shadows made it difficult to properly store them.  I knew something had to be done... so i took matters into my own hands!  I purchased a few ZPalettes because i knew these were the only palettes I'd trust with my beloved shadows and blushes.  This was the best decision i could have ever made!  I find myself using shadows that had been long lost in the midst of my makeup train case!  So essentially, i feel as though I've gained a whole new set of shadows!  Here's the bonus... if you depot MAC shadows/blushes/bronzers you can take the empty pots and take advantage of MAC's recycling program 'back to MAC' which you've heard me talk about many times on my blog!  So i hope this post inspires you to do the same!  I'll admit, i refuse to depot my Nars shadows... they're just too pretty in their original packaging!

OK Here's what you'll need:

Decide which shadows/blushes/bronzers you want to depot...

Place the shadow pan on a piece of parchment paper.

Once the glue has melted off, you will be able to carefully use your sharp object to remove the metal shadow pan from the plastic portion.  Be careful!  The metal portion of the pan will be hot!

.
Peel the adhesive off and place it on the back of the metal shadow pan.

Using your sharpie, write the name and make of the shadow.  In this case, I've depotted MAC's Retrospek.

Place the shadow in your palette of choice and you're done!

Now remember to snap the top and bottom pieces of the empty shadow pan back together so that you can 'back to MAC' it!

So i found this process to be relatively easy!  I'll admit that i crumbled one of my old shadows which i attribute to the fact that it was already half gone to begin with.  Also, one of my MAC bronzers slightly cracked.  It's totally usable still thankfully so I'm not too upset over it.  What i most love about this process is the fact it makes your shadows, blushes and bronzers more readily available to use while saving you a ton of space!

So lets chat!  Have you depotted any makeup before?  Have you tried ZPalettes before?  What are your thoughts?

Making Waves with NuMe's Pearl Curling Wand

Sunday, February 3, 2013

Has your hair been looking a bit blah lately?  Do you want to take your locks from drab to hello gorgeous? Of course you do!  Good thing i'm here to show you how!  I first learned about NuMe from a blogger whose hair always looks uhhhhmazing!  Her hair always stuns with just the right amount of perfectly placed waves!  Is she human?  I seriously had my doubts... until she revealed her secret weapon!  NuMe's curling wands!  I immediately checked out the site in hopes that these potentially magic wands casted their stardust magic on my hair!  The prices were quite steep but i quickly rationed that if i want hair like that, i'm gonna have to buckle up and splurge!  Lucky for me, that same week, i came across a Groupon for $15 towards $115 worth of NuMe styling tools!  What? Certainly it was my lucky day... i even contemplated playing the lottery that day! Hey, ya never know!  So i immediately ordered my NuMe Pearl Curling Wand and saved myself $100!

So let me tell you a little bit about my new purchase!  I realize that this wand has ahem an interesting shape... to say the least!  And if you thought that this was that kind of site, i'm so sorry to disappoint! All jokes aside, it was actually its unique shape that sparked my curiosity.  I was beyond excited when it arrived in the mail and quickly put it to use.  First, it comes with a heat resistant glove which i have to say came in super handy at first.  I highly recommend using it until you feel comfortable enough using this wand.  I also noticed that the Pearl heats up in a matter of a couple of seconds... it's that fast! Totally justifiable considering it is a magic wand!  All i can say is that it was love at first curl!  Wow... i couldn't believe how incredible that very first curl/wave looked!  I knew i was in for some mah-jor life changing curlage (um is that even a word?... I'm looking at you Webster's Dictionary!  After all, if Beyonce's bootylicious made the cut...I declare curlage as a relavant and necessary word!)  OK rant over!   When finished, my hair was filled with a mixture of waves and curls that lasted for 3 1/2 days!  I typically wash my hair every other day but noticed that with curly hair, i could go much longer!  I'm so pleased with the turnout!

I highly recommend using a heat protector on your hair prior to using this or any styling tool.  It's essential for protecting your pretty locks!  I'm currently using and loving Alterna BAMBOO UV + Color Protection Fade-Proof Fluide which i purchased through Birchbox.

Here's a little video tutorial i put together to show you just how amazing the Pearl Curling Wand is! Enjoy!

So lets chat!  Have you tried any NuMe styling tools or products?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.  I wonder if their styling products are as good as their styling tools!  Are there any other NuMe styling tools i should try?  I can't even imagine the possibility of  a better curling wand then my beloved Pearl!

Playing with Complimentary Nail Colors

Saturday, February 2, 2013

So today i decided it would be fun to create a nail look simply by playing with complimentary colors.   I'm using Julep's Lucy (a deep wine) and Diane (a deep forest green).  I thought it'd be fun to paint my nails using Lucy and my pointer using Diane.  Then i applied a stripe of Diane on all the nails painted in Lucy for a bit of interest and dimension.  I reversed the process for the pointer finger just for fun.  The cool thing about this look is that because the colors are so complimentary of each other, they kind of blend a bit. From a distance, you wouldn't know i mixed two colors.  However, if you look closer, you can totally see the fun I've had with these two complimentary shades.  I love the idea that you can rock this look anywhere... even if you have a formal or more conservative event to attend, you could totally get away with this look.  I will say this is equivalent to the mullet in the 80's... you know, business in the front, party in the back!  Except cuter... i mean, who the heck wants to rock a mullet these days right?

So lets chat! What are some of your favorite complimentary color nail polish looks?   Thank you SO MUCH for reading! XOXO Carla - FMM
